Salvia officinalis - sage by Jo Edwards
Salvia officinalis, commonly known as Common Sage, is a fragrant, evergreen herb native to the Mediterranean region. It is rich in antioxidants and has traditionally been used to support digestion, soothe sore throats, and enhance memory. Sage tea has long been consumed for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, while its essential oils have been used in remedies for colds, wounds, and skin irritations. In folklore, sage has been regarded as a plant of wisdom, longevity, and protection. In many cultures, burning dried sage (a practice known as smudging) has been used to cleanse spaces of negative energy and promote spiritual clarity.
