Acacia dealbata - mimosa by Barbara McLean
Acacia dealbata, commonly known as Mimosa or Silver Wattle, is a fast-growing tree native to southeastern Australia. Traditionally, the bark and flowers of the Silver Wattle have been used in herbal medicine, particularly for their calming and anti-inflammatory properties. In indige-nous Australian medicine, the plant was used for treating wounds. Its flowers were sometimes steeped in water to create soothing infusions for stress and anxiety. In folklore, Acacia dealbata holds symbolic significance, particularly in the context of renewal and regeneration. The plant’s vibrant yellow flowers, which bloom in winter, are associated with the sun and new beginnings.
